JIANGSU: China's world No.1 and topseed Chen Long and former five-time world champ Lin Dan won their third round matches to remain on course for a sensational China Masters final showdown.
All the topseeds here, led by Chen Long, won their matches today to advance to the quarterfinals.
Chen Long and Lin Dan had fairly easy matches, sweeping past their opponents, Shi Yugi and Richii Takeshita, in straight games. Chen Long won 21-16, 21-10 while Lin Dan advanced with a 21-13, 21-17 victory.
Chen Long will meet India's H.S. Prannoy, the seventh seed, while Lin Dan will battle compatriot Guangzu Lu in the quarterfinals.
In the women's singles, Li Xuerui was stretched to the decider by Japan's Ayumi Mine. Li prevailed 21-23, 21-10, 21-8. India's PV Sindhu also moved on after going past Chinese Taipei's Chien Hui Yu 21-9, 21-17.
South Korea's Lee Yong Dae-Yoo Yeon Seong, the No. 1 men's doubles seeds, made the quarterfinals when they defeated Chinese Taipei's Jhe Huei Lee-Yang Lee 21-18, 21-12.
The men's doubles saw an upset when unseeded Huang Kaixiang-Zheng Siwei defeat their teammates and fifth seeds, Liu Xiaolong-Qiu Zihan 21-19, 21-12.
The women's doubles topseeds Luo Ying-Luo Yu were given a rough ride by Thailand's Puttita Supajrakul-Sapsiree Teeratanachai. The CHinese duo bagged the tie 10-21, 21-10, 21-14.
China's Huang Dongping-Zhong Qianxin had a good outing as they upstaged Malaysian seventh seeds, Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei 21-17, 21-18.
