SHAH ALAM: Recently crowned All England winner, Nozomi Okuhara made a premature exit from the Celcom Axiata Malaysia Open after being beaten by Thailand's Thailand's Porntip Buranaprasertsuk in the second round this morning.
The unseeded Thai surprised Nozomi, the eighth seed here, when she claimed the first set 21-12. Nozomi battled back but was restricted by her injury and lost 22-20 in 43 minutes.
"I missed many shots and could not recover. I'm not at 100 percent as I have not fully recovered from my injury," said Nozomi, who had beaten China's Wang Shixian in the All England final.
The other All England winners to drop out of contention today were Praveen Jordan-Debby Susanto of Indonesia.
The duo, who shocked Joachim Nielsen-Christina Pedersen in the All England final last month, went down to Singapore's Danny Bawa Chrisnanta-Vanessa Neo Yu Yan.
The Singaporeans won 21-19, 21-14 in just over half-an-hour.
