Badminton Asia’s 7th Level One coaching course in India a huge success

India now have 16 additional Badminton World Federation (BWF) Level One certified coaches – thanks to Badminton Asia's development programmes.

Badminton Asia in collaboration with Badminton World Federation (BWF) – India Badminton Association, Meghalaya State Badminton Association and the Shillong Badminton Coaching Centre held the latest Level One coaching course in Shillong last month. 

It was the seventh BWF Level 1 coaching course hosted by India BA since last year and more are expected this year.

Since last year India BA have hosted BWF Level 1 Coaching Course, this is the 7th Course was conducted in India. 



The 16 participants came from different parts of India – four each from Assam and Meghalaya and two each from Arunachal, Sikkim, Mizoram and Nagaland. The average age of the coaches is 30 years old.

The week-long course was divided into three sections: 
1) Personal and Professional Standard
2) What To Coach, and 
3) How To Coach

It was interesting to note that most of the participants were not only very enthusiastic but also put in lot of hard work and efforts during the duration of the course.

The course conducted by Mr. Muhammad Andy Ardiansyah (Tutor – Development Officer Badminton Asia) and Mr. Nikhil Chandra Dhar (Tutor – Regional Development Officer – South Asia Region).

They were assisted by Mr Apinder – Chief Coordinator of India BA and Mr Biswajit Ghish – Local Coordinator from the state of Assam.

The BWF Level 1 course was held in NEHU University – Shillong in Meghalaya State. Three badminton courts were used for practical sessions while the theory sessions were conducted in the adjacent badminton hall.

On the last day of the course the tutors gave their final feedback to all the participants. 
A point to note is that there were no failures and the 100 per cent passes in the BWF Level One course shows that the shuttle sport is a hit in the country.

The president of Meghalaya State Badminton Association presented the BWF Level One certificates to all the successful coaches plus the Participation Certificates from the India BA.
