Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT), received five awards at the Thailand National
Sports Day 2017 held on 16 th December in recognition for its continuous contribution and
achievements in the sport of Badminton.
The five awards received are:
Best Association Award: Badminton Association of Thailand (BAT)
Best Administrator Award: Khunying Patama Leeswadtrakul, President of BAT
Best Referee Award: Nahathai Sornprachum, Official of BAT
Best Male Youth Award: Kunvalut Vitidsarn, World Junior Badminton Champion 2017
Best Doubles Award: Dechapol Puavaranukroh & Sapsiree Taerattanachai, Top Badminton Mixed Doubles Pair.
President of BAT, Khunying Patama highlighted that the all five awards received were the
results of hard work, dedication and commitment from all committee members, officials,
staffs and stakeholders of BAT. She promised that with such high recognition given, this will
only encourage BAT to work even harder and better in developing and promoting the sport of
Badminton, making it a sport for all. Khunying Patama is also a member of the International
Olympic Committee (IOC) and council member of the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
The National Sports Day was jointly organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of
Thailand and the Sports of Authority of Thailand (SAT). The annual event is a celebration to
support the development of national sports and sporting activities, and to create the awareness and promotion to the public the importance of sports in daily living. Through the event, numerous awards were also presented to sporting figures and organisations to acknowledge and appreciate their contribution towards sports in Thailand.
