THE BEST OF ASIA: RINOV RIVALDY (INDONESIA)

Rinov Rivaldy is a mixed doubles player from Indonesia who’s currently ranked #20 in BWF World Rank.

He won the gold medal at the 2019 SEA Games and at the 2017 World Junior Championship in the mixed doubles with his partner Pitha Haningtyas Mentari.

Rinov started playing in tournaments in 2013 when he still played in the boy’s singles and boy’s doubles categories. The first international competition where he played in the mixed doubles category is the Jaya Raya Indonesia Junior International Challenge 2014. In 2015, he won the silver medal at the Yonex Italian Junior in the men’s doubles category with his partner Andika Ramadiansyah.

In 2016, he collected even more medals. He won the bronze medal in men’s doubles at the Walikota Surabaya Victor International Series 2016. At the Pembangunan Jaya Raya Yonex Sunrise Junior Grand Prix 2016 (U19), he won two silver medals from the boy’s doubles and mixed doubles. Finally, at the Kawasaki Vietnam, International Series, he won the gold medal in the mixed doubles category with his then partner Vania Arianti Sukoco.

His success in 2016 led him to achieve more in the following years.

In 2017, he won two bronze medals from one event — one in the mixed double and another in the men’s doubles — at the Yonex Dutch Junior and the BWF World Junior Championships! Even better, he also won two gold medals at the Yonex Sunrise India Junior International Grand Prix.

2018 was the year Rinov became more consistent in playing in the mixed doubles. He won one gold medal at the Indonesian Masters 2018 and one silver medal at the Syed Modi International Badminton Championships 2018.

In 2019, he rose higher by winning a silver medal at the Yonex Swiss Open and one bronze medal at the Korea Open. With his current partner, Pitha Haningtyas Mentari, he made it to the semifinal round of the 30th SEA Games in Manila, Philippines.

This year, Rinov Rivaldy and Pitha Haningtyas Mentari won a gold medal at the Spain Masters 2021 and just a few days ago: one bronze medal at the Hylo Open 2021.

With his achievements so far, Rinov is surely one of Asia’s best players and we’re looking forward to seeing him succeed further!
