Hosts China in four finals

HANGZHOU: Hosts China had a smashing outing in the semifinals today with their players qualifying for  four of five finals in the Asian Games badminton competition.

Their players qualified for the men's singles, women's singles and doubles and mixed doubles.

In the men's singles semifinals this evening, Shi Yuqi was at his finest and defeated Kodai Naraoka 21-5, 21-15 to set up an all-China final against compatriot Li Shifeng.

Shi Yuqi, who struggled in the men’s team event,  served up a stunning performance tonight, to outplay Naraoka.

Feng Yan Zhe-Huang Dong Ping's dreams of meeting their teammates in the mixed doubles final did not materialise after second seeded Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino of Japan emerged winners.

The Japanese will face world No. 1 Zheng Siwei-Huang Yaqiong, who earlier in the morning won their semis tie.

This evening, Chen Yufei stumbled in the opening set but quickly recovered in the   remaining two sets. She beat Japan's Aya Ohori  18-21, 21-10, 21-8. Waiting for her in the final tomorrow is world No. 1 and top seed, Republic Korea's An Se Young.

Women's doubles duo, Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan are gunning to retain the gold they won at the last Games. They will be locked in battle with Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirata / Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee who won their evening semis match against Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirata / Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee.

India's Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty, after their wink over Malaysians Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik tonight, will be aiming to create history tomorrow when they take on Republic Korea's Choi Sol Gyu-Kim Won Ho in the final.

Republic Korea’s Baek Ha Na-Lee So Hee defeated Japan's Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota tonight. Ha Na-So Hee    are in the final where they will meet Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan.
