Quarter-final draw for Badminton Asia Mixed Team Junior Championships

Top seeds China was drawn to face Chinese Taipei in the quarter-finals in the Pembangunan Jaya Raya Badminton Asia Mixed Team Championships after the completion of the preliminary round group matches on Sunday.

Defending champions and second seeds Korea, based on Badminton World Federation (BWF) rankings on June 21, 2018, will face Malaysia in the bottom half of the draw.

Thailand seeded 3/4, will be up against Indonesia, the runners-up last year, with the winner playing China or Chinese Taipei in the semifinals.

In the bottom half, Korea or Malaysia will face the winners of the Japan versus India tie.
The quarter-final matches will be played at the Pembangunan Jaya Indoor Stadium in Bintaro, Jakarta on Monday.

"It is not an easy draw as all the teams that have made the quarter-finals have the strength to reach this far," said Korea's head coach Kim Hak Kyun, who took the team to the title with a 3-2 win over Indonesia last year.

Malaysia coach Kwan Yoke Meng said: "We are ranked No 7 and we have achieved our first target to reach the quarter-finals. The battle starts now Our chances are as good as any other team."

Thailand coach Udom Luangphetcharaporn said there are no clear favorites in the quarter-final draw.

"To me all teams are strong. It is a matter of playing their right strategies," said Udom.  
At the end of the group matches on Sunday, China topped Group A and pushed the Malaysians into second place following their 4-1 victory. Thailand was too strong for Chinese Taipei in their final Group B match and easily won 5-0 to head the group.
 
The Koreans took Group C after a 4-1 win over India to head the group while Japan edged Indonesia 3-2 in their final Group D match in the battle for the top places.
