Korea's former world champions Ko Sung-hyun-Shin Baek-cheol were the star attractions in the USD150,000 as the unseeded pair clinched the men's doubles title for a fairytale run at the Quay Centre in Sydney on Sunday.
And it was the perfect icing on the cake for the 2014 world champions when they downed top seeds and world No 2 Takeshi Kamura-Keigo Sonoda of Japan in straight games 21-11, 21-17 in 36 minutes.
The win was no flash in the pan for Sung-hyun-Baek-cheol as they had beaten reigning world champions Li Junhui-Liu Yuchen of China 21-11, 14-21, 21-17 in the semi-finals.
In the quarter-finals, they had dumped No 3 seeds and reigning All-England champions Mohammad Ahsan-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia 21-15, 21-15.
Meanwhile, Indonesia's 21-year-old Jonatan Christie clinched his second world tour title in a row the men's singles.
In the final, the Asian Games champion defeated his sparring partner Anthony Ginting 21-17, 13-21, 21-14 in a 67-minute all-Indonesia thriller to add to the New Zealand Open he won last month.
However, it was a sad story for Japan in the women's singles.
Just like in the men's doubles, top seed Nozomi Okuhara fell at the final hurdle.
The world No 3 went down tamely 15-21, 3-21 to China's second seed Chen Yufei in only 33 minutes.
The second game lasted only 12 minutes.
Japan, however, took the women's doubles through Yuki Fukushima-Sayaka Hirota.
The second seeds eased to a 21-10, 21-16 win over China's Chen Qingchen-Jia Yifan, the third seeds, in 53 minutes.
As expected World No 2 and top seeds Wang Yilyu-Huang Dongping gave China plenty to cheer by winning the mixed doubles title with a dominating and convincing performance in their 21-15, 21-8 win over Indonesia's Praveen Jordan-Melati Daeva Oktavianti in the final.
The Chinese have now won all their five meetings against the Indonesians.
