Turning the tide of badminton in Bangladesh

Bangladesh is not a known badminton playing nation but the Bangladesh Badminton Federation (BBF) is determined to change the scenario.

With the help from Badminton Asia, the BBF successfully conducted a Players Training Camp in Dhaka (from April 15-21) for 32 players, both male and female. The training camp was held in the wake of BWF Level 1 Coaches Education Camp (April 8-15) which was another huge success.

The focus of the training camp was to encourage junior players to learn the basics and tactics of badminton while for the seniors to enhance their individual skills.

Described as "fantastic" training camp, it was conducted by Badminton Asia's Development Officer Mr Sambenthan Sivaperumal and Mr Nikhil Chandra Dhar, the Regional Development Officer for South Asia.

The objectives of the training session was to encourage BBF to renegerate the training programmes and to supports national players to "sharpen" their badminton knowledge and skills.

"It was a fruitful camp for us. Our two coaches (Sambenthan) and Nikhil) shared their badminton knowledge with us that will help us in our badminton career as well as our daily life.

"We thank Badminton Asia for organising such a beneficial programme," said Farbin Binte Emdad Hridita, a Bangldesh national junior player who attended the training camp.
