Defending champions and top seeds Japan will play Malaysia in the Badminton Asia Tong Yun Kai Cup quarter-finals while second seeds China will meet Thailand.
In the draw made after the completion of the final group matches on Thursday night, third seeds Indonesia will square up against Singapore while hosts Hong Kong China and Chinese Taipei will battle for a place in the semi-finals.
China team manager Sofea is not expecting an easy match against Thailand.
"We have to be at our best to face the Thais. They might have lost (4-1) to Indonesia in their last group match but it does not make our task any easier. I would say it will be 50-50 for both teams.
Malaysia manager Wong Choong Hann said the "draw would have been better" when commenting on playing the defending champions.
"However, after taking two points off China in the final group match has given the team some confidence. Our young players must play tough opponents to improve their game.
"Their mixed doubles (Yuta Watanabe-Arisa Higashino) are virtually untouchable…but in the men's singles Cheam June Wei has an even chance while there is also hope in the men's doubles," said Choong Hann.
Indonesia team manager Susy Susanti was all smiles with the draw and said: "On current form, we have a good chance but no match is easy," said the former Olympic champion.
Hong Kong China head coach He Yi Ming was quick to say that "there is pressure on the home team" after being drawn against fourth seeds Chinese Taipei.
"Still, it will be a 50-50 affair and with home support, we will have some slight advantage,"
said Yi Ming.
