A host of aspiring badminton umpires from Arab nations are currently in Amman, Jordan for the Badminton Asia Regional Umpires Training Course from August 21 to 29.
Saudi Arabia with four candidates heads the list of participants followed by Lebanon with three. Hosts Jordan, Egypt, and Algeria have two each while Iraq with one candidate completes the list of 14 participants.
The course is held in conjunction with the West Asia Badminton Junior Under-17 and Under-15 Championships in Amman and this is the first time such a course is conducted by Badminton Asia in the Jordanian capital city.
The overwhelming response from the Arab nations certainly augurs well for the sport in this region.
The course is conducted by Mr. Sudhakar Vemuri from India.
