Tzu Ying to Play Against Men

All eyes will be on World No. 1, Tai Tzu Ying, when she competes against male shuttlers in a tournament in Chinese Taipei in early August.

According to the Chinese Taipei Badminton Association, the tournament will help gauge Tzu Ying’s form following the long layoff due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Tzu-ying’s opponents will be former national champion Lin Chia Hsuan and her sparring partner Tsai Chieh Hao.

This internal competition will be staged a month ahead of the Taipei Open from Sept 1-16.

In the men's singles, Taiwan's top two stars, Chou Tien Chen (world No. 2) and Wang Tzu Wei (world No. 12) will face two upcoming players, Lin Yu Hsien (world No. 65) and Chen Shiau Cheng, world No. 205).

The nation’s leading men's doubles pairs, all ranked in the world's top 30, have also been listed for action.

This competition is part of a general plan for all sports by the nation’s Sports Administration.
