She holds an impressive 138 career wins across singles, doubles, and mixed doubles with singles contributing the most wins with 121.

She started playing badminton at just 6 years old because she thought it was fun, but it wasn’t until she was 12 when she became professional. She made her international debut at the 2007 Hong Kong Open. Over the years she has competed at the 2011 BWF World Junior Championships, and in 2012, she represented her country in the Uber Cup. Then in 2014 she participated in the 2014 Asian Games. The following year, she competed at the 2015 Malaysia Super Series Premier Qualification and in the 2016 Vietnam Open Grand Prix.

In 2013 she won the bronze medal for the women's team at the East Asian Games. A year after she achieved a Bronze medal in the 2013 East Asian Games, she’s also reached the semi-finals of several tournaments, including: 2013 Austrian International, 2014 U.S. Open Grand Prix Gold, 2014 Swiss International and 2015 New Zealand Open Grand Prix Gold tournaments. Although she did not win, it gave her a boost for the year after when she won her first singles medal. It came in the 2015 Austrian Open when she defeated Linda Zetchiri from Bulgaria with a score of 21-16, 21-8.

In 2019 she also won bronze as part of the mixed team in the Asia Mixed Team Championships. After she was unable to qualify for the 2016 Rio Olympics, Cheung began thinking of quitting, however she didn’t give up and continued to play. Her biggest goal is to one day win an Olympic medal.
