Treesa Jolly is a 17 year old Indian player, born on the 27th of May 2003. She is currently ranked #8 in BWF’s junior ranking for women’s singles. With 43 career wins in women’s singles, women’s doubles, and double mixed category, Jolly is on her way to becoming one of Asia’s best players!
Jolly grew up in a region that lacked the foundation for badminton, “when I started out, hardly anyone played the sport back in my village. When my father started encouraging me and my sister to play badminton, a lot of people questioned him.” she said in an interview with New Indian Express.
One of the first tournaments that she participated in was the YONEX SUNRISE JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIX 2017. Just one year after that, in 2018, she won gold in the women’s singles category at the YONEX – SUNRISE BANGLADESH INTERNATIONAL JUNIOR. She defeated American player Ruhi Raju 21-15, 21-11.
The year 2019 was a breakout year for her as she won multiple titles. Most notably, she won bronze within the women’s doubles category at the U-19 INTERNATIONAL GRAND PRIX 2019 held in Pune and also finished third in women’s U-19 doubles category at the YONEX GERMAN JUNIOR CUP 2019. She also won a series of national titles with the majority of them coming in women’s doubles.
In 2020, she competed at the DUTCH JUNIOR INTERNATIONAL 2020 in the women’s singles category and also for the mixed doubles category alongside her partner Sankar Prasad Uday Kumar. She also competed again at the GERMAN JUNIOR 2020 competing for both women’s singles category as well as the mixed doubles category.
We're looking forward to more of her achievements in 2021!
