BADMINTON ASIA AND ASIAN BROADCASTING UNION SIGN MOU

KUALA LUMPUR (17 November 2025) – Badminton Asia Confederation (BA) and the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will be hugely beneficial to both organisations over the next three years.

Senior representatives from BA and ABU presided over the signing ceremony today. YH Dato’ Kenny Goh, BA Secretary General and Mr Ahmed Nadeem, ABU Secretary General, signed the MOU on behalf of their respective organisations. Mr Chooi Weng Sheng, the BA Chief Operating Officer and Mr Cai Yanjiang, ABU Director of Sports witnessed the historic ceremony.

This partnership between BA, Asia’s badminton governing body representing 45 members, and ABU, the world’s largest broadcasting alliance representing over 250 public service broadcasters across more than 60 countries in Asia and the Pacific, will establish cooperation in various fields of expertise and knowledge for both influential organisations.

BA stands to benefit through the promotion of its events and activities on the official ABU platforms which is accessible to all ABU members. The MOU will also provide the opportunity to enhance BA’s academic and research profile, expand industry engagement and to increase its recognition among the Asia-Pacific broadcasting network.

The areas of cooperation agreed by both parties include the delivery of academic online and off-line courses related to media, broadcasting and communication through the ABU Media Academy, co-organising training programmes, workshops and seminars, and research collaboration in media and broadcasting innovation.

The exchange of expertise and industry professionals for educational initiatives, mutual participation in international media events organised by BA and ABU, and sharing content to the ABU Sports and Entertainment Network (ASEN) to promote BA events, are among other areas of cooperation stated in the MOU.
