"I feel I am being appreciated. Time flies and I never realised I am now giving away the medals to the champions," said Kien Keat, who won the men's doubles title in the Asian junior championships in Bangkok with Ong Soon Hock in 2002.

The Malaysian ace the went to establish a deadly partnership with Tan Boon Heong to win the prestigious All-England men's doubles title in 2007 after winning the Asian Games gold medal in Doha in 2006.

Incidentally no Malaysian pair has won the Asian Games men's doubles gold since then.
In 2010 Kien Keat-Boon Heong won the silver in the men's doubles in the 2010 BWF World Championships.

Kien Keat gave away the gold medal to champions Han Chengkai-Zhou Haodong. The third seeds upset top seeds He Jiting-Tan Qiang 21-12, 21-17 in all-China final.
