Ten-time champions China are still the hot favourites to retain the Sudirman Cup which will be held in Gold Coast, Australia from May 21-28.
The defending champions have been drawn in Group 1A and have Thailand and Hong Kong for company while Thomas Cup holders are seeded second and drawn in Group 1C – which is made up of Thomas Cup runners-up Indonesia and Asia's rising badminton power India.
Third seeds South Korea are in Group 1B together wtih Taiwan and Russia while fourth seeds Japan are in Group 1C and have fifth seeds Malaysia and England for company. Teams in Groups 2 and 3 – made up of eight teams each – will battle for overall placings.
Group 2A is made up of Germany, Vietnam, Scotland and Canada while 2B has Australia, Singapore, United States of America (USA) and Austria. New Zealand, New Caledonia, Macau and Guam are drawn in Group 3A and Sri Lanka, Slovakia, Tahiti and Fiji complete Group 3B.
Badminton World Federation (BWF) president Poul-Erik Hoyer has described as a "high intensity competition with epic battles" and this can be expected in Gold Coast.
China have won the biennial tournament 10 times since its inception in 1989.
