With two titles in the bag India's rising badminton star B. Sai Praneeth is now ready to throw his challenge and make an impact in the coming tournaments, including his maiden World Championships in Glasgow, Scotland in August.
From his win in last week's Thailand Open Grand Prix Gold in Bangkok, the 24-year-old Indian is counting on a good show in the coming two Superseries tournaments – the USD1 million BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier in Jakarta from June 12-18 and the USD750,000 Crown Group Australia Superseries in Sydney (June 20-25) before the biggie in Glasgow.
The Thailand Open was Praneeth's second title in a row after winning the Singapore Open – which was his first Superseries title. In the process Praneeth became the fourth Indian shuttler to win a superseries title after Saina Nehwal, K. Srikanth and P. V. Sindhu.
"Fitness is the key to my game…and it is my fitness that won me back-to-back title (Singapore Open and Thailand Open)," said Praneeth who beat Indonesia's Jonatan Christie in the final in Bangkok.
In the Singapore Open final it was an all-India affair with Praneeth defeating compatriot Srikanth for the title in three sets.
"I don't shirk in my training. I am aware that only with fitness I can win titles as I already have the strokes in my game. You will get the desired results if you combine both disciplines."
Praneeth has vowed to improve his fitness further in his bid for the world title.
