Malaysia and Thailand are assured of the gold and silver medals in the women's singles and mixed doubles events respectively in the 29th Sea Games after the completion of the semi-final matches at Axiata Arena in KL Sports City, Bukit Jalil on Monday.

The women's singles will be between No 4 seed Soniia Cheah and her young compatriot, 17-year-old Goh Jin Wei.

Soniia was the first to make the final with a 22-20, 21-13 win over Indonesia's Gregoria Mariska Tunjung before Jin Wei upset third seed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand in a three-game thriller 21-9, 10-21, 21-18.

The all-Thailand matches will be in the women's doubles and the mixed doubles.
Women's doubles top seeds Puttita Supajarakul-Sapsiree Taerattanachai will face compatriots Jongkolphan-Rawinda Prajongjai for the gold medal match.

Puttita-Sapsiree defeated Vietnamese combo Thi Phuong Hong Dinh-Do Thi Hoai 21-12, 21 while Jongkolphan-Rawinda shocked second seeds and 2013 Sea Games champions Vivian Hoo-Woon Khe Wei 17-21, 22-20, 21-17.

Malaysia's number two men's doubles pair Ong Yew Sin-Teo Ee Yi are surprise finalists after upsetting top seeds Bodin Isara-Nipitphon Phuangphuapet of Thailand in straight games 21-12, 21-15 in only 26 minutes.

They will battle compatriots Kittinupong Kedren-Dechapol Puavaranukroh after the fourth seeds upset second seeds Fajar Alfian-Mohammad Rian Ardianto of Indonesia 21-17, 23-21.

Malaysia's Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai lined themselves up for the mixed doubles final after they knocked out fourth seeds Bodin Isara-Savitree Amitrapai of Thailand. The second seeded Malaysians triumphed 18-21, 26-24, 21-18.

The Malaysians face top seeds Dechapol Puavaranukroh-Sapsiree Taerattanachai who beat Malaysia's Chan Peng Soon-Cheah Yee See 21-16, 18-21, 23-21 in 76 minutes.
