Srikanth takes inspiration from tennis ace Roger Federer

With his fourth Superseries in the bag India's K. Srikanth has upped his tempo in search of winning a badminton 'major' – the Olympics, the World Championships and the prestigious All-England.

And things are looking good for the Indian sensation after his won last week's Yonex French Open Superseries in Paris – a just a week after winning the the Danisa Denmark Open in Odense.

In the process Srikanth became the first Indian and the fourth player to win four Superseries titles in one season. Three others who have achieved this feat are Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei and China's Lin Dan and Chen Long.

With his recent spate of victories Srikanth has also thrown in his challenge for the much awaited season ending Dubai Superseries Finals – a title he has yet to win.

In the French Open final the Indian defeated Japan's Kenta Nishimoto 21-14, 21-13 while in the Denmark Open he strolled past South Korean veteran Lee Hyun Il 21-10, 21-5.

This is the second time the talented Indian has won back-to-back titles. Earlier this year, after reaching the Singapore Open final the 25-year-old Srikanth won the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier, followed by the Australian Open.

If there is one person who has played an important role in his recent rise in the sport, Srikanth, who is headed to be world No 2 when the latest ranking list is issued this Thursday, Srikanth said it is tennis ace Roger Federer of Switzerland.

"I take inspiration from him (Roger) to be calm on court and be focused," Indian media quoted Srikanth, on is return home after success in Denmark and France.

Srikanth was also quoted as saying that time of badminton greats like Chong Wei, Lin Dan and Chen Long dominating the badminton scene is coming to an end but warned that they can be dangerous and cannot be written off although many new champiosn have emerged of late.

"This is good for the game and players like me cannot write them off yet. The greats have the experience to come back. Lin Dan is a good example and he reached this year's World Championships final in Glasgow. This itself is a clear sign that it will be tough every time we play them.

"Women players Saina (Nehwal), P.V. Sindhu and myself have won many titles but we should, hopefully, win major trophies like the Olympics, World Championships and the All England soon," added Srikanth.
