It was a first for Japan's Kento Momota in the men's singles and for Indonesia's Wahyu Nayaka Arya Pangkaryahira-Ade Yusuf Sontoso in the men's doubles in the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold which ended on Sunday.
Momota, a former world No 2, who is making a comeback from his suspension for gambling in illegal casinos in Japan with teammate Kenichi Tago, won his first Grand Prix Gold – defeating Indonesia's 14th seed Ihsan Maulana Mustofa in the final.
The 23-year-old Momota eased past Maulana 21-16, 21-10 in 41 minutes to become the first Japanese player to win the men's singles title in the Macau Open.
His efforts earned him USD9,000 in prize money that came with the title.
The runner-up took home USD4,560.
Momota has been in terrific form this year and clinched his sixth title in finals.
He won the Czech Open and the Belgian International in the International Challenge.
In the Grand Prix Open he won the Dutch Open and the Canada Open.
Unseeded Indonesian men's doubles pair Wahyu Nayaka-Ade Yusuf also clinched their first Grand Prix Gold.
They are the first from Indonesia to win the men's doubles in the Macau Open.
The Indonesians are also USD9,480 richer in their 21-13, 21-14 win over South Koreans Kim Won-ho-Seo Seung-jae in 36 minutes.
The Koreans pocketed USD4,560.
China's 17-year-old teenage Cai Yanyan needed three game to win the women's singles title – battling Pai Yu po of Chinese Taipei for 61 minutes before prevailing 21-15, 17-21, 21-16 for the crown.
The biggest winner, however, was China's doubles player Huang Yaqiong who clinched the women's doubles with Yu Xiaohan before partnering Zheng Siwei for the mixed doubles title.
However, it was the opposite for Korea's Seung-jae, who, apart from the defeat in the men's doubles was also at the receiving end in the mixed doubles with Kim Ha-na.
