Holm stuns top seed Sirant to take Kazakhstan title

It was a fairy tale run for Denmark's sixth seed Ditlev Jaeger Holm in the USD10,000 Condensate Kazakhstan International Series when he upset top seed Sergey Sirant of Russia for the men's singles title in Uralsk, Kazakhstan on Sunday.

The Dane continued his rich form at the Universal Gym TOO "TH Nafta" with a 21-13, 21-17 win over Sirant in 39 minutes for his first win over the Russian. 

In the quarter-finals, Holm stopped second-seeded Resky Dwicahyo of Azerbaijan 21-14, 19-21, 21-17. For a place in the final Holm stunned third seed Emre Lale of Turkey 21-11, 21-8.

Holm completed a double when he partnered Jeppe Bruun for the men's doubles title – defeating Russian pair Amir Khamidulin-Aleksandr Vasilkin  21-12, 21-11 in only19 minute.

Bruun himself was a double winner he also clinched the mixed doubles title with Irina Amalie Andersen with a 21-17, 211-13 win over the scratch pair of Artur Niyazov-Olga Ivashenko (Kaz/Rus) in a 28-minute encounter.

Russia's Natalia Perminova lived up to her top billing in the women's singles as she strolled past Vlada Ginga of Moldova in straight games 21-10, 21-8 for the title in 30 minutes.

The women's doubles went to Russian top seeds Viktoriia Kozyreva-Mariia Sukhova who toiled for 65 minutes before prevailing 21-14, 18-21, 21-19 against compatriots Daria Dzhedzhula-Alexandra Semenova.
