Executive Committee Meeting 2020
On the 16th of November 2020, the Badminton Asia Executive Committee (ExCO) Meeting was successfully held for the first time virtually at 1600hrs (4pm, Kuala Lumpur), where Badminton Asia (BA)’s status and achievements in 2020 was shared and discussed. The meeting was attended by the Executive Committee Board Members and the Office of Badminton Asia.
The meeting was conducted by the Secretary General, Mr. Moosa Nashid, and it began with President Anton Subowo’s Welcome Remark to those in attendance. In his opening remarks, Mr. Anton highlighted the challenging year everybody has had, including Badminton Asia, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but emphasized the importance in still having determination, perseverance and patience. Mr. Anton also stressed the importance of health and safety in moving forward as an organization. Despite the challenging year, Badminton Asia has seen success because we’ve been united and connected, as per our theme in harmony and solidarity.
The ExCO meeting highlighted several achievements that Badminton Asia has accomplished during this period, in particular for the progress in technology and innovative ideas in conducting activities for the organization. This included successfully developing an application, in collaboration with SITC UTM, that was able to collect data about a particular athlete and in turn, generate training plans that are specific to the athlete's needs.
The Chairman of the various committees presented an updated report on the accomplishments and events that each committee had done in the 2019 to 2020 period. Although this year took an unexpected turn due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting concluded that the organization is in a good, progressive state because of the support by the solid team members of the organization.
