BADMINTON ASIA VIRTUAL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2020

Badminton Asia (BA) hosted its first virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2020 on the 10th of December 2020, an alternative venue that was approved by its Member Associations (MA) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The meeting was conducted by the Secretary General, Mr. Moosa Nashid and the Treasurer, Mr. Jassem Kanso. It began with President Anton Subowo’s Welcome Remark. He spoke of the importance of sport for our physical and mental health, and acknowledged the importance of staying United and Connected, as we emerge towards 2021 stronger than before.

The meeting went over the Annual Reports for 2019 of each standing committee, highlighting the accomplishments they had in 2019 and the goals they had moving forward.

The virtual AGM highlighted the Badminton Asia Executive Committee (ExCo) Meeting made on the 16th of November, 2020 which unanimously agreed to form an Ad-Hoc Commission in the name of ASIA CARE to be engaged in providing various kinds of support and relief assistance for the MAs in need during these difficult times.

The AGM decided to rename one of the standing committees to become “Women in Badminton and Gender Equity Committee”. All issues, including the adjustments in the constitution, were agreed by more than two-thirds of the voting delegates during the AGM.

The AGM was attended by the President of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Poul-Erik Høyer Larsen.

The AGM was adjourned by the President with the wish of good health to all the MAs.
