Mongkhon Bunsun scratched to his third win in Group H of the Men’s Singles SL 3 at the on-going NSDF Badminton Asia Para Badminton Championships 2025 at the SPADT Convention Centre in Korat, Thailand.
SL 3 refers to players with movement moderately affected one side of the body, both legs, or the absence of limbs.
The 30-year-old bronze medallists at last year’s Paralympics in France, had started his campaign with a hard fought three set victory over India’s K. Suhag.
Mongkhon took the first set 21-12 before conceding the second set 10-21.
However, the defending ASEAN champion proved his prowess to take the third set 21-12 for his first win in the group.
From then on, Mongkhon went on to take the next two matches in the group with ease with all straight set wins.
Mongkhon disposed of world No. 75 Yang Jian Yuan in just under half an hour 21-19, 21-11 and then another Indian shuttler in Manjunath Govind Naik 21-1, 21-16.
