Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championships 2025 to strengthen sport in the region

The 2025 Badminton Asia South Asia Regional Championship was held last week, with the aim of fostering regional relationships and strengthening the presence of the sport.

The event was hosted by Bhutan in its capital, Thimphu, from 15 to 22 August, with the Opening Address delivered by Bhutan’s Minister of Education and Skills, Lyonpo Yeezang D. Thapa.

A meeting between officials from Badminton Asia and South Asian leaders were also held with the attendance of YH Dato’ Kenny Goh Chee Keong (BA Secretary General), BA Treasurer (Mr Jassem Kanso) Mr. Wajib Ali Chaudhry (BA Chair of Development), Mr. Chooi Weng Sheng (BA COO), South Asian leaders from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal and BA staff.

Towards further fortifying the presence of badminton in Bhutan and the surrounding region, a badminton tournament was also held at around the same time.

The Team Event was organised between 15 and 18 August 2025, before the Individual Event from 19 to 22 August 2025.
