Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei from Malaysia made it a fairy tale finish when they took their first BWF World Championship Mixed Doubles crown at the Adidas Arena in Paris, France.
What made their straight set victory over Jiang Zhen Bang-Wei Ya Xin from China even more significant was that it fell on Malaysia’s celebration of their National Day.

Seeded fourth, Jie-Toh Ee Wei were up against second-seeded Zhen Bang-Ya Xin, but their determination shone through when they took 40 minutes to win 21-15, 21-14.
Quite an achievement for two players who almost called it quits earlier in the year.
Malaysia could have added a second title through the Women’s Doubles.
Still, the duo of Pearly Tan and Thinaah Muralitharan found it hard going against top seed and world No. 1 Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning from China.

Even though Pearly and Thinaah threw everything they had in the duel that lasted 83 minutes, there was no denying Sheng Shu-Tan Ning from capturing their first World Championship title with a hard-earned 21-14, 20-22, 21-17 win.
China would then go on to take another title with top seed Shu Yu Qi emerging triumphant in his Men’s Singles battle against third-seeded Kunlavut Vitidsarn from Thailand.

In the final that lasted a good 77 minutes, the 28-year-old Yu Qi finally added the World Championship crown to the silver he won seven years ago in Nanjing with scores of 19-21, 21-10, 21-18.
But a third title for China was denied in the Women’s Singles when Akane Yamaguchi from Japan added her third World Championship crown with a 21-9, 21-13 victory over Chen Yu Fei. Akane was the World Champion in 2021 in Spain and 2022 in Japan.

In the final of the Men’s Doubles, world No. 1 Kim Won-ho-Seo Seung-jae from South Korea faced little difficulty in defeating Chen Bo Yang-Liu Yi from China, 21-17, 21-12.

It was Won-ho-Seung-jae’s second World Championship title after winning it for the first time in 2023 in Denmark.
