Hee Yong Kai Terry is a Singaporean badminton player who was born on the 6th of July 1995. Currently, he is ranked #19 for the men’s doubles and #4 for the mixed doubles according to the BWF World Tour Rank.
After graduating through the youth system at the Singapore Sports School's badminton program, Terry began playing professional badminton in 2014. In the same year, he was a bronze medalist in the mixed team event at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland. He was also a member of the national squad that won bronze medals in the men's team event at the Southeast Asian Games in 2015, 2017, and 2019. In Gold Coast 2018, he competed in his second Commonwealth Games. Most recently in 2021, he had been able to finish first place for two separate championships. On 17 October, Hee Yong Kai Terry partnered up with Loh Kean Hean to defeat Tan Kian Meng and Tan Wee Kiong in the finals, thus winning him and Loh Kean Hean a gold medal. Just a few short weeks after, Hee Yong Kai Terry finished, yet again, first place alongside Loh Kean Hean.
From 2021, Terry has been married to fellow Singaporean shuttler Tan Wei Han, with whom he has frequently teamed in mixed doubles events since the beginning of his professional career Within the same month they were married, they had attended their first event as a married couple was the 2021 Czech Open, when they defeated Russians Lev Barinov and Anastasiia Boiarun to finish first place and take home the gold medal.
Terry will be part of the Singaporean Team at the 2022 Selangor Badminton Asia Team Championship. We wish to see more of him on the court as he continues to dominate his opponents!
