BADMINTON ASIA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2022
Badminton Asia (BA) hosted its Annual General Meeting (AGM) of 2022 on the 9th of October 2022 in Shangri-La Rasa Sayang, Penang, Malaysia. A total of 57 delegates attended the meeting and 8 delegates joined virtually, all coming from 27 Member Associations (MAs).
The meeting was conducted by the Secretary General, Mr. Moosa Nashid, and the Treasurer, Mr. Jassem Kanso. It began with President Anton Subowo’s Welcome Remark. He acknowledged how much progress has been made in 2022 as we are welcoming the “transition to endemic” phase after the Covid-19 pandemic. The President also highlighted that the unity and collective effort among the members and stakeholders were the reasons behind Badminton Asia's progression and success, hoping that it will be carried forward to the years ahead.
The meeting went over the Annual Reports for 2021 of each standing committee, highlighting the accomplishments they had in 2021 and the goals they had moving forward.
It was announced at the AGM that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will host Badminton Asia Championships and Badminton Asia Team Championships in the next five years, starting in 2023. The five-year contract was made possible in partnership with Beyond Boundaries. This will be the first time the UAE to host Asian Championships. The team championships will be held in February and the individual championships will be in April, both of which are planned to take place at the Dubai Exhibition Center.
The AGM was adjourned by the President with the wish of good health to all the MAs.
