Badminton Asia Para Badminton Championships 2025: Top seed Satomi to face compatriot Sena in semifinals Women’s Singles WH1

World No. 1 Sarina Satomi from Japan will take on countrywoman Sena Tomoyose in the semifinals of the Women’s Singles WH1 of the NSDF Badminton Asia Para Badminton Championships 2025 at Korat’s SPADT Convention Centre.

The 27-year-old Chiba native made sure of her place in the semifinals after winning both her matches in Group A of the Women’s Singles WH1, which refers to athletes having impairments in both lower limbs and trunk, requiring a wheelchair for play.

Satomi – the twice gold medallists at the Paralympics in 2020 and 2024 – ran out easy winners over China’s Fan Chao Yue (21-9, 21-7) and then Onanong Phraikaeo of Thailand (21-10, 21-).

With the win, Satomi will play the runners from Group B of the Women’s Singles WH1 – Sena Tomoyose.

Still a teenager, Sena came in second in the group after taking two wins from three matches played.

She dumped second seeded Hu Guang-chiou from Chinese Taipei 21-12, 21-12 in her first game before beating India’a Pallavi Kuluvehalli 21-8, 21-9 in the second game.

Sena’s only loss (12-21, 10-21) was against Group B winner Lu Yin Meng from China.

With the win of Group B, Yin Meng will face her own compatriot Chao Yue in the crossover semifinals.
